I’ve always found it ironic that Republicans claim to be the party
for “Christian values” or the “moral majority.” I mean, I get why the
GOP used religion as a tool to build their party; it’s a great way to
manipulate people, but the whole think just reeks with irony with nearly
every policy they support.
So when I read about the House vote to cut $39 billion from the food stamp program, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Well, I guess Jesus hates hungry, poor people.”
After all, Republicans claim this is a “Christian nation,” right?
The key part to being a Christian is the belief in Jesus Christ and
believers striving to live their lives the way he did.
So when these “Christians” (I don’t consider most Republicans true Christians)
vote for politicians who then turn around and cut $39 billion from a
program that helps feed the poor, I guess they believe Jesus Christ
would have been in favor of that.
