As
the winter weather set in on Albuquerque, volunteers gathered at the
New Mexico Unites for Marriage campaign office for the first of many
phonebanks to come.
Eight dedicated marriage equality organizers made 500 calls in just three hours, reaching out to HRC members in northern New Mexico, as well as Las Cruces. Volunteers invited hundreds to upcoming ACTION meetings, discussed ways to recruit friends and family to join them and even transferred several directly to state legislators to let them know how important the freedom to marry is to their constituents.
NMUM staff is gearing up for regularly scheduled phone banks in the coming weeks, and we urge HRC members to come out, meet the team and get involved!

The next round of state-wide ACTION Meetings have been scheduled for
early December and HRC's field organizers can’t wait to connect with
communities in Espanola, Las Cruces, Farmington and Las Vegas to discuss
the ways we can work together to ensure that marriage equality is
protected during the upcoming legislative session and beyond.
