This Martin Bashir Rant Should Make Sarah Palin Shut Her Mouth For Good

While right-wingers whine and throw temper tantrums over remarks made by Martin Bashir on Friday, the rest of America is breathing a sigh of relief and having a laugh that someone may have finally shut Sarah Palin’s mouth for good.

Martin Bashir took a dump on Sarah Palin’s stupidity over slavery.

During his program on MSNBC, Martin Bashir blasted Sarah Palin for comparing the national debt to slavery. Last Saturday, Palin told an audience in Iowa that future generations of Americans would be enslaved to the debt.
“Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children, and borrowing from China,” Palin said. “When that note comes due — and this isn’t racist, so try it. Try it anyway. This isn’t racist. But it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due.”
Clearly incensed by the comparison, Martin Bashir launched an epic rant in which he declared Palin’s mind “deceased” and attacked her stupidity.
“Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it’s hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history.”
Martin Bashir then continued by giving Palin a history lesson about what slavery was truly like. He began with the diary of Thomas Thistlewood, a plantation overseer in the 1750s who described the brutality and inhumanity he unleashed upon slaves who were caught doing something they weren’t allowed to do.
In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby ‘catched eating kanes had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth,’
This became known as ‘Darby’s Dose,’ a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident in 1756, his time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. ‘Flogged punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper, made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth.’

Martin Bashir suggested Palin should experience how slaves were treated.

This is the kind of horrible treatment that slaves were subject to. They were whipped, had salt thrown in their wounds, and were forced to allow another slave to defecate in their mouth. This is what Sarah Palin thinks is comparable to the debt. But Bashir wasn’t through with Palin. He suggested she learn about the true horrors of slavery by experiencing it for herself.
When Mrs. Palin invokes slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, she would be the outstanding candidate.

Right-wingers are throwing a fit over Martin Bashir’s remarks.

Since Martin Bashir signed off on Friday, right-wingers have flown into a rage. They are accusing the MSNBC host of being a misogynist and are demanding that he be suspended.
The thing is, Martin Bashir is nowhere near guilty of misogyny. Misogyny is the general mistrust and hatred of women, something Tea Party Republicans know all about considering their efforts to control women’s reproductive decisions. Nowhere in his remarks did he insult women. Just Sarah Palin. He was merely telling the truth about her lack of brains. And she deserved every word. Compared to slavery, the national debt is frivolous. No one is being whipped, beaten, defecated on, sold, bred like cattle, or chained up over the debt. The fact is, Palin isn’t an intelligent individual. She preys upon the fear and gullibility of others, all while being ignorant about what she’s talking about, just to sell more books. Even military veterans know that she’s an idiot.

Martin Bashir is only saying about Sarah Palin what most Americans have been saying since she showed up on the scene in 2008. And with any luck, Sarah Palin will choose to keep her mouth closed out of concern that she may one day be taught the lesson Martin Bashir suggested she learn. Or at least make her think really extra hard before opening it again.
