Another day, another “persecuted Christian.” As everyone knows, gay-hating Christians seem to cherry pick what it is they want to believe in the bible, and unfortunately it always comes back around to just simply hating someone for being who they were born to be. This is again evident in Tennessee in which a pastor in a Baptist mega church proclaimed that homosexuals “must be put to death” because it’s what God would want and it is what he commands us to do.
The pastor, Robby Gallaty, told the church-goers that discrimination against gays should never stop, and that death is the only way to punish those who are “infected” with sin:
“God said that the sins of the people had infected the very land in which they live. So what happens to people who engage in this activity, this sexual immoral activity? Go to Leviticus 20, God gives us the punishment for engaging in these sins… ‘If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable thing. They must be put to death. And their blood is on their own hands.”
And why should innocent gays and lesbians be put to death? Well, according to Gallaty, they have made the choice to be gay, thus rebelling against God’s plan. Touching on the comparisons some Christians make in to racist beliefs and homophobic beliefs, Gallaty responded just as you’d think; insulting those who can see a legitimate comparison between two hatreds:
“Here’s the problem with the argument that you closed-minded Christians, one day you’re going to come full circle, and you’re going to realize that you’re being judgemental just like racism was 50 years ago. And we finally realized that racism was an issue for Christians. And now you guys have repented and come full circle, and you’re going to realize that you’re as foolish as we were with the movement of racism,. It’s not the same… A black man can’t change his race, a white man can’t change his race, a homosexual can stop engaging in homosexual acts. See, sexuality is a choice. Gender and race are not.”
You hear that? It is not OK to hate black people if you are a Christian, but it is OK to hate gays and want to kill them if you are. I remind you…these are the people who feel THEY are the ones being persecuted in this country. We tell them they’re stupid, they whine and cry and scream “discrimination.” They call on gays to be put to death. See any differences?
I guess the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” doesn’t ring true to Gallaty, who has proven himself to be another faux Christian who blankets his hateful beliefs in the word of God. But don’t say that to the religious right. They’ll jump to his defense faster than anything else. Why? Because religious freedom, that’s why.
Just another mega church moocher who will peddle anything to keep banking off stupid people. All while being a tax exempted organization.
As he preaches the genocide of gays, I wonder if he will touch on the fact that he sinning as he wears a pair of denim jeans and a cotton shirt. He probably won’t though because that doesn’t count in his tiny world of knowledge.
