Georgia Republican Candidate Declares Intent To Prosecute Democrats If He Wins Senate Bid

During a debate in Georgia on Sunday night, the Republican candidate in a critical Senate race declared that he has no interest in bipartisanship and admitted that his mission is to start a witch hunt in Washington DC and prosecute Democrats.

David Perdue is currently running neck and neck with Michelle Nunn over who will be the next United States Senator from Georgia, but rather than show an inclination toward crossing the aisle to work with Democrats, Perdue only showed hostility.

Nunn posed the question of whether Perdue would work with Democrats to compromise on issue in order to get things done in the spirit of cooperation Americans have been looking for.
NUNN: I just don’t believe that it’s one party or the other. I think it has to be both sides coming together. I think that we do have a very clear contrast in terms of how we see breaking through that dysfunction. I don’t think it’s about prosecuting the other party; I think it’s about problem-solving.
But Perdue rejected bipartisanship entirely and embraced going even further to the divisive extreme when he announced that he wants to prosecute Democrats for somehow failing America and called for the country to make a “hard right-hand turn.”
PERDUE: I disagree; I think it is. When you have a failed presidency, you have to prosecute it. We deserve better than we’re getting right now. When we look at the direction of this country, we’ve got to make a hard right-hand turn. The direction of this country is failing.

Senate Contender Says He Would 'Prosecute' Democrats

I seem to remember that Republicans have been on a perpetual witch hunt against Democrats since 2008 and have tried to do everything in their power to obstruct Congress and sabotage President Obama, both of which have hurt America. Time and time again, Republicans have been more interested in perpetual investigations and calling for suing or impeaching President Obama instead of working to improve the country by passing legislation. Republicans have even blocked their own bills for the sake of gridlock.

And now, Perdue wants to go even further by subjecting Democratic lawmakers to prosecution simply because they support measures that the GOP doesn’t like. This is a terrible direction for our country to travel and would further damage the government and the nation. Americans have consistently looked for bipartisanship in Congress to get things done, but the GOP isn’t interested in negotiating. They want all of their demands met or they will go on a campaign of persecution.

Republicans like Perdue are out of their minds and have no place in public service. But since the GOP is interested in “prosecuting” Democrats for doing absolutely nothing wrong, perhaps it’s time to revisit prosecuting the Bush Administration for war crimes. After all, two can play at that game.
