Irish Catholic priests reveal they regularly go to gay clubs

Irish Catholic Priests have revealed there is an 'active gay scene'.

Irish Catholic priests have revealed they regularly go to gay bars.

New research has revealed the sex lives of 'celibate' priests in the Church, revealing many of them have been sexually active and there is an 'active gay scene'.

'Thirty-Three Good Men: Celibacy, Obedience and Identity' publishes new analysis of priests' views from a series of interviews conducted by Dr John Weafer, a former seminarian who is now married with children.

'Fr L', a parish priest interviewed confidentially by Weafer, said he had sex with another priest after he was ordained in the 1990s.

'Although we both vowed it would never happen again, it did and I was really very confused,' he told the Independent.

Somewhat ashamed, but ready to experiment, he decided to go and visit the gay scene under cover of darkness.

It was at that point, in a gay bar in Dublin, when he recognized at least nine other priests.

It turns out that he had discovered a 'strong clerical gay scene in Ireland', with 'quite a lot of gay guys in the priesthood'.

Once he realised that the Catholic Church was deeply hypocritical of its attitudes to homosexuality, he eventually decided to leave.

Weafer also interviewed Fr C, who revealed he was in a long term same-sex relationship. The preacher said he was 'very happy with his life as a priest and a person.'

Weafer claims the higher-ups in the Irish Catholic Church are 'aware' and would 'not be shocked' by the book's revelations.

'As long as priests don't go public and don't flaunt those actions that don't correspond with being a celibate priest', they'd turn a blind eye, he claimed.

'If a priest was to say in the morning "I am gay", he would be fired. Priests have learned to keep their heads down.'

Other findings include the majority of the Irish priests are unsurprisingly unhappy with mandatory celibacy. However, those who are most enthusiastic of retaining the celibacy rules are younger, more conservative priests.

LDS Church 'Sad' About Salt Lake City Gay Bar's 'Dress Like a Mormon' Party: VIDEO

Slc
A gay club is making headlines in Salt Lake City for a promotion meant to take advantage of the LDS General Conference in town over the weekend, KUTV reports.

The club erected a muscular Moroni statue on its roof, posted photos of its staff as missionary "Elders" and gave them similar nametags. It is also offering liquor specials such a "Sacrament shots", "Baptism by Fireball", and "Garment Droppers" and is offering free entry to those wearing "garments, missionary nametags, or their missionary suit."

The stunt has offended at least one patron who says she'll "think twice" about going back.

An LDS Church released a statement about the promotion:
"In recent years many people in our community, including religious leaders and representatives of the LGBT community have worked hard to create greater understanding and develop more sensitivity and good will toward each other. It is sad to see events like this - deliberately designed to offend and alienate - given any kind of attention."

NEW JERSEY: Attacker Of Gay NYC Bartender Has Yet To Be Extradited

Two weeks ago New York City Eagle bartender Paul Martone was left in critical condition after a Hell's Kitchen street altercation involving his dog. Martone's attacker, Corey Pohan, 32, fled to his mother's home in suburban New Jersey where he remains in jail pending a hearing on local disorderly conduct charges for climbing onto the top of the Lincoln Tunnel toll plaza after leaping from the car of the NYPD detectives who were transporting him back to Manhattan.
During his appearance on a disorderly conduct charge, no-nonsense Judge Karen Boylan asked the surfer dude if he knew when he was going to be extradited to New York to face an assault rap. “No, I just walked up this ramp and sat here. I haven’t talked to anyone other than the public defender, and he said no,” Pohan whined. Boylan then told him she didn’t have enough information on the Jersey charge to proceed with the case. “It looks like we’re going to have to hold you over until next week“ she said, news that also sent the bruiser’s mom Barbara Pohan into hysterics. “Next week? Can’t we handle this today if he pleads guilty?”she cried out. “Mrs. Pohan, he has criminal contacts in Colorado. He has an extradition here to New York. He hasn’t spoken to the detectives who made the arrest here in Jersey. I have no discovery, so we’ll see you on the screen next week,” the judge replied. Pohan, dressed in green prison scrubs, sobbed uncontrollably as he left the chair in the video room in another section of the courthouse and walked out of view of the monitor.
The judge did not elaborate on Pohan's "criminal contacts" in Colorado. The NYPD has not yet disclosed what charges Pohan may face in Manhattan. Martone remains hospitalized. The incident spawned international headlines and a social media furor on whether Martone instigated the fight.

Please Don’t Host your Bachelorette Party at My Favorite Gay Bar

I have been meaning to do this post since last July and was inspired today by a friend, and gay bar owner's, Facebook update, which I will share later in this post. (Thank you Wayne for stoking the fire that already existed inside of me!)

You may or may not be aware that the latest "trend" the past few years (and increasing at an alarming pace) is bachelorette parties being held at gay bars. And by being held, I mean its more of a drunken takeover. The atmosphere completely changes as these drunk, screaming, entitled young women come in with a "look at us" and "look how fabulous I am" attitude complete with penis hats, tiaras, sashes, boas, and you name it....a whole plethora of tackiness that I personally don't even try to understand.

Before I share my friend's Facebook update I mentioned above, I want to share a couple personal experiences of mine. First of all, Jacques in Boston, which was perhaps one of the first bars on the East Coast to get taken over by these drunken parties due to an article that appeared many years ago in a popular "bride" magazine. Jacques which is a Boston drag institution and gay bar is now nothing more than a playground for bachelorette parties, often hosting 3 and 4 parties in a single evening. When I go to Jacques now to see one of my favorite Boston legends like Mizery, Destiny, or Kris Knievel I feel like a stranger in my own neighborhood. If I can get past the the bachelorette girls screaming, stumbling, vomiting, belligerent behavior I still am unable to interact with my favorite queens because the girls make sure they are the center of all attention in that bar.

Last summer my husband and I went to Bear Week in Provincetown and was at a Bear week sponsored event at the Paramount. This is the last place you would expect a bachelorette party but all of a sudden as we were dancing and enjoying this Bear themed event (Bears in boxers), dozens of girls (adorned with penis hats and feather boas) came in screaming and yelling and went right to the center of the dance floor and took over. We were literally pushed out of the way as they began yelling to the DJ to play this or that generically tacky song because it is "the best song EVAH!" Marc and I left immediately and took our business elsewhere. We also felt bad for all the guys single or otherwise who were there looking to perhaps meet a new love interest or some new friends. Many of the guys we spoke with, spent a lot of money traveling to, and staying in Provincetown. I am sure this was not the experience they had looked forward to for an entire year.

Finally, I will end this post with the Facebook update I mentioned above from an amazing man and a respected gay bar/restaurant owner in Ogunquit Maine:

Dear Bachelorette Parties.. Thanks for the negative review for not allowing entry to my Business.. When you show up intoxicated you will not be allowed entry! ITS THE LAW... In fact.. I work my ass off in making sure guests are happy. To call me discriminatory is a bunch of bullshit and you know it. FACT is.. Bachelorette Parties will no longer be allowed in my business! Take your penis straws and your tacky attire and feather boas and shove them right up your ass!! I done picking up after your messy asses. Respectfully, Me

Terrorism Charges Possible in Seattle New Years Eve Gay Bar Arson

Musmari
Musab Mohammed Masmari — the 30-year-old suspect arrested for New Year’s Eve arson at Seattle's Neighbours gay nightclub — has plead guilty. His plea agreement could get him anywhere from five to 20 years in prison.

The Seattle Times provides more details about how Musmari committed his crime:

Police say that Masmari avoided a security check at Neighbours by entering an adjacent bar called Therapy Lounge. He then passed through an interior door between the bars into the two-floor dance club and was seen on surveillance footage walking around with an object that appeared large enough to contain a 1-gallon gas can, according to the state charging documents.

Masmari allegedly fled the club within seconds of flames first appearing on the footage, the papers say. Club patrons and a bartender quickly doused the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

There were more than 750 people inside the club that night, authorities said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd Greenberg — supervisor the Joint Terrorism Task Force handled the case— suggesting that hate-crime and terrorism may be mentioned as part of his motives during his sentencing hearing on July 31.

Dominic Holden, the openly gay reporter for The Stranger, provided a timeline of the investigation leading to Masmari’s arrest. Police identified Masmari carrying a large container of gasoline from nightclub footage. He was at Sea-Tac airport trying to escape to Turkey with his worldly possessions when police apprehended him.

Straights Should Stay Out Of Gay Bars?

Slate vlogger and self-identified separatist June Thomas says that gay nightclubs are too few and "precious" to the community and therefore straight people should think twice about coming in.
And gay guys should stay out of lesbian bars too.

My opinion is straights should be welcome in gay bars, however they shouldn't try to take over and they shouldn't get all offended because there are gay people there. What's your opinion?

Brooklyn Landlord Forbids Opening of a Gay Bar on Premises, Gets Sued

John McGillion, who owns Lulu’s in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, wants to turn the establishment into a gay bar to reap the benefits of the neighborhood’s growing gay and lesbian community, but a stipulation in his lease forbids the opening of a gay bar on the premises, so McGillion is suing, the NY Post reports:
“I am barely scraping by on the proceeds of the bar . . . If I am permitted to operate a gay bar at the premises I believe that I will be able to make a considerable profit,” McGillion said in Brooklyn Supreme Court papers filed last week…
McGillion has withheld the rent for months and has been battling landlord Guard General Merchandise Corp. for more than a year over the issue, but says it won’t budge.
“I don’t know what their problem is. Who knows? I thought those days were gone,” he said of the lease. “I mean, who cares, today? Gays — everybody’s got their rights. What’s the big deal?”
…McGillion, who owns a handful of other bars in Brooklyn and Manhattan, believes he could have done another “40 to 50 percent” more business as a gay establishment.

McGillion is asking a judge to declare the clause in his contract forbidding him from going gay invalid.
