Police in Ontario, Ohio, are searching for a woman who was captured on a hidden police camera stealing a stuffed animal from the grave of a 14-month-old boy.
Hayden “Tank” Cole Sheridan passed away in 2007. The family first reached out to authorities in 2012 to report items being taken from their son’s grave, including toys and solar night lights.
In response, the police set up a hidden camera. Unfortunately, the images were always unclear, and they were unable make a positive identification.
On Saturday, April 19, 2014, the parents placed a large stuffed duck for their son to have for Easter. Less than 5 hours later, a woman appears at the grave site and seems to stare directly at the camera as she picks up the stuffed duck and walks away.
Now, the Ontario Police are asking people on Facebook for help identifying the woman.
The family wants the person who did this to be held accountable however they recognize that this person is probably not responsible for all of thefts from “Tanks” gravesite. Most of all, the family just wants some assurance that they can leave a night-light and a stuffed animal at their son’s grave without someone stealing it. If you recognize this person, please contact the Ontario Police Department at or send us a private message.
It is easy to focus on police who behave badly. This, on the other hand, is a prime example of the police working for the people. Not only did they investigate a reported crime, they placed a hidden camera by the grave and are now asking for help to find the culprit.
Watch the woman steal the stuffed animal from the baby’s grave below. If you have any information, you are urged to contact the Ontario Police at (419) 529-2115 or through their Facebook page.
