Country Singer Carrie Underwood Cites Her Christian Faith in Gay Marriage Endorsement
Carrie Underwood created quite the controversy last year when she became
one of the first country music artists to vocalize her support of gay
marriage. The singer admits she was unprepared for the backlash voicing
her opinion would create, but she says she doesn’t regret speaking her
mind.
“As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love,” she stated. “I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.” Full story here

Jason Collins Wearing Number 98 Jersey In Honor Of Matthew Shepard
Jason Collins will once again don a Number 98 jersey when the Brooklyn
Nets take on the Portland Trailblazers on Wednesday—the number, which he
wore with the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards, is in honor of
Matthew Shepard, the young gay man brutally murdered in 1998.
“It’s really exciting—I’m really excited for him. To bring Matt’s story into it, to continue to keep Matt’s story out there, it reminds people that this is the kind of thing that happens and is still happening, even if we don’t read about it like we used to,” said Matt’s mother, Judy Shepard, who has been a tireless advocate for the LGBT community. “We were very touched. For him to make that tribute to Matt was meaningful to us.”
Matthew shepardCollins had been wearing No. 98 for several years, but its significance only became clear after he came out. He wanted to wear the number at Sunday’s game against the L.A. Lakers, but the team only had one spare jersey on the road, No. 46. Full story here via VJ Brendan!

'It's Raining Men' Re-Enters Pop Charts 30 Years Later!
Earlier this month a member of Britain's far-right UKIP party declared that God was flooding the country in anger over the legalization of same-sex marriage. That prompted a Facebook campaign to push It's Raining Men to #1 on the singles chart more than 30 years after its release.
Three decades after its original release, It's Raining Men sits at No 21
on the midweek singles chart, now less than 40 copies from entering No
20, according to the Official Charts Company. This is a meteoric rise
for a campaign launched just over a week ago, and around 15,000
supporters have registered on the crusade's Facebook page. Full story here via Joe My God!
