Sen. Ted Cruz To Join Anti-Gay Activists In Honoring His Father

Next month, Rick Scarborough's Vision America will host its annual "Heroes of Faith Gala" where the Family Research Council's Tony Perkins will receive the 2014 "National Hero of Faith Award" and Rafael Cruz, a Religious Right activist and father of Sen. Ted Cruz, will be honored with the "Don Wildmon Award," named for the founder of the American Family Association.

Today, Vision America sent out an email urging activists to register for the event, revealing that the senator is also going to be in attendance, picking up the Don Wildmon Award on behalf of his father and delivering remarks:

As we have noted before, Ted Cruz has great admiration for Scarborough despite Scarborough's long history of rabidly anti-gay bigotry.

In recent years, Scarborough has defended Russia's anti-gay laws, claimed there should be no such thing as Gay Pride Month because "those who engage in unnatural acts should hang their heads in shame," insisted that gay people should always be referred to as "sodomites," and called for a class action lawsuit to be filed against homosexuality.

In her own words. Mother Jones releases audio of Susana’s graphic attacks on women, Hispanic business and teachers

The true Susana Martinez, in her own words. That’s the first big takeaway from today’s Mother Jones article, “Is New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez the Next Sarah Palin?”

One Republican state legislator described her tactics thusly: “Nastiness, misinformation, innuendo, and flat-out lies have created a toxic political environment.”

Just a week after Martinez released her first highly-polished campaign ad denouncing her national ambitions and promoting her warm and fuzzy side, new audio recordings from inside her 2010 campaign show the sexist, belittling and vindictive nature of the true Susana Martinez behind closed doors.

On Teachers & Hiding Her True Positions During the Campaign

Martinez told campaign staffers she would hide her opinions on teachers during the campaign, but she didn’t like teachers who “already don’t work,” referring to summer school breaks.

She then laughs with her chief campaign strategist, Jay McCleskey, about ways to avoid accusations that she hid her true anti-teacher feelings during the campaign

BILLY GRAHAM'S SON: GAYS 'RECRUIT' CHILDREN THROUGH ADOPTION

Franklin_graham
After praising Russian President Vladimir Putin for his moral treatment of homosexuals as pedophiles, Franklin Graham — the evangelical spawn of anti-gay preacher Billy Graham — doubled-down on his love of Putin, adding that gays don't "adopt" children so much as "recruit" them; a distinction that he never actually explains.

During an interview with Tim Funk of The Charlotte Observer, Graham calls up the right-wing bogeymen of the president's lockstep march with the so-called "gay and lesbian agenda" and religious intolerance of gay people who dare label his "difference of opinion" as bigotry or homophobia.

In one delicious part of the interview, Funk asks Graham why he's opposed to enshrining Islamic Sharia law into the U.S. society when he supports enshrining Christian Biblical law into anti-marriage legislation. Graham, unsurprisingly, doesn't answer, only responding with "Well I believe the Bible from cover to cover. And I believe the Old Testament as well as the New Testament."

CNN’s Chris Cuomo embarrasses Catholic League’s Bill Donohue during debate on Arizona’s anti-gay law

deadstate cnnCatholic League President Bill Donohue thinks Christians are “being besieged.” During an appearance on CNN with Chris Cuomo, the two had a heated debate in the wake of Arizona’s recently vetoed bill SB 1062 that would have allowed business owners to discriminate against LGBT people based on religious belief.

Donohue conceded that discrimination against LGBT individuals was wrong — except for marriage, but he insisted that marriage is “about family, it’s not about love,” going on to say that “marriage has always been based historically on duty and commitment.”

Not believing his ears, Cuomo said, “you do not own marriage– it was not developed by Christians,”
“I have Christianity, I have Judaism, I have the Muslims, I have Mormons, I have most of the world, who regard this idea as bizarre– that two men should get married,” Donohue shot back.
