Christianist Sharia Law has come to America

Alabama Senate OK's church police bill

The Alabama Senate has voted to allow a church to form its own police force.

Lawmakers on Tuesday voted 24-4 to allow Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham to establish a law enforcement department.

The church says it needs its own police officers to keep its school as well as its more than 4,000 person congregation safe.

Critics of the bill argue that a police department that reports to church officials could be used to cover up crimes.

The state has given a few private universities the authority to have a police force, but never a church or non-school entity.

Police experts have said such a police department would be unprecedented in the U.S.

A similar bill is also scheduled to be debated in the House on Tuesday.

Gay Couple Arrested For Having Sex Face Up To 100 Lashings

For the first time in Indonesia (according to the Shariah police’s chief investigator) a gay couple may receive 100 lashings by cane if they are found guilty of having, well, um, sex. The couple, a 23 and 20 year old, was arrested on March 29th in the provincial capital Banda Aceh after a neighbor reported them to the police. The men had ‘confessed’ to being a gay couple after a video of the pair together was posted online by a neighbor.
The footage allegedly shows one of the men naked and visibly distressed as he calls for help on his phone, while his partner is repeatedly pushed by another man who prevents the couple from leaving the room.
Aceh is the only province in Muslim-majority Indonesia to practice Shariah law, which was a concession made by the national government in 2006.
A Shariah code, implemented two years ago, allows up to 100 lashes for morality offences, including gay sex. - metro.co.uk
Caning of individuals occurs for many reasons. It is also a punishment for adultery, gambling, drinking alcohol, women who wear tight clothes and men who skip Friday prayers. The picture below is the result of a young woman and a man being sentenced to be publicly caned in Indonesia’s Aceh province for violating the Sharia law by allegedly being "too intimate" with each other. (December 2015)

We will have to wait and see if these two men are convicted. As well as being caned 100 times, people caught having sex with someone of the same sex will be fined up to a kilogram of gold (about £24,400) and can be sent to prison for 100 months.

Republican Wants America To Be More Like Saudi Arabia – Christian Sharia Law on the Horizon!

Poe’s Law strikes yet again.

After years of mocking and satirizing the theocratic Republican intentions through comparisons with Saudi Arabia, it was bound to happen that at least one of them would look at it and say, “yeah, they’ve got a good thing going on over there.”

GOP State Legislator Jason Rapert is the man who thinks that we should be more like the theocratic nation that, sometime this century, is set join the 1800s. Rapert, angry that a judge has struck down the Arkansas ban on gay marriage, went on a conservative radio show hosted by Dave Elswick to put his theocratic, anti-democratic, anti-civilization intentions where anyone could see, whining about those dirty “activist judges”and being querulous in general:
When judges assert the will of the people wholly in this country, they are pulling the rug out from underneath representative democracy. By the way, Saudi Arabia, they don’t live under the same kind of law that we do. They live under the law that they see fit to live under there. We have that right here, too. And that’s why there’s such an injustice here.
What’s there for a Republican not to love about Saudi Arabia? It’s an aggressively regressive, backwards, oil-rich, socially stratified theocratic hellhole of a nation trapped in the perpetual twilight of the 1500s. It’s everything the Republicans could want out of a country, except for that whole “Islam” and “Sharia law” thing. But if you filed off the Arabic and threw in a few references to how great capitalism is, would they really know the difference?

Rapert told Arkansas News shortly after the ruling that there could be “a push to put an initiative allowing judicial recall elections on the ballot in November,” according to theHuffington Post. Getting a ballot initiative requires a lot more people than the aggrieved but imaginary ones that are living in Rapert’s head, though.

Rapert also has a history of saying things like this. At a 2011 Tea Party Rally, he told supporters that they shouldn’t allow “minorities to run roughshod over what you people believe in.”

Land of the Free? NC bans Sharia Law by enacting it.

At the 11th hour, a group of Republican state senators from North Carolina tacked an ambitious set of anti-abortion restrictions onto a bill designed to ban Sharia Law in the state.
Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice advocates said they had no idea that the surprise anti-abortion measure was coming.  But of course, the religious right groups were informed that the Sharia bill would really be an anti-abortion bill.
The local media is calling the anti-abortion proposal “sweeping.”
Guess who else believes in sweeping anti-abortion measures?
Sharia law:
“I believe that the value of life is the same whether this embryo is the result of fornication with relatives or non-relatives or valid marriage. In Sharia, life has the same value in all cases.” – Sheikh M. A. Al-Salami, Third Symposium on Medical Jurisprudence
Islam,The North Carolina legislature recently passed a measure requiring 7th and 8th grade teachers to incorporate into their lessons unsubstantiated pseudo-science claiming that abortion increases the risk of miscarriage later in life.  And now, the new North Carolina restrictions would make it nearly impossible to perform abortions in the state.
WRAL has a rundown of the provisions (emphasis added):
CONSCIENCE PROTECTION: The bill would allow any health care provider, not just doctors and nurses, to opt out of providing abortion-related services.
ABORTION FUNDING LIMITS: The bill would prohibit health plans offered on the federal health care exchanges from offering abortion coverage. It would also prohibit state funds from being used for abortions, except to save the life of the mother in case of rape or incest. It would also prohibits city and county health plans from offering abortion coverage more extensive than the coverage offered to state employees. The state health plan does not cover abortions except in cases of rape or incest or to save the life of the mother.
SEX SELECTIVE ABORTIONS: The measure prohibits doctors from performing an abortion if they know the woman seeking it is doing so because of the gender of the baby.
