Virginia pastor: Women are sinners if clothes ‘outline’ body ‘to make it noticed’

A Southern Baptist pastor in Virginia has warned women in his congregation that they are sinning if their clothes allow others to see the “outline” of their bodies.

The Christian Post pointed out on Tuesday that HeartCry Missionary Society founder Paul Washer had posted the sermon to YouTube last week, where he says that God wants women to “adorn themselves with proper clothing.”

“That tells me that there is clothing that’s improper for a Christian woman,” the pastor explains. “That’s just logic.”

“My wife has a really good thing that she says: ‘If your clothing is a frame for your face, from which the glory of God is to shine, it’s proper, if it draws attention to your face. If your clothing draws attention to your body, to outline it, to make it noticed, then it’s sensual.’ What you’re doing is wrong.”

Washer adds that “godly” men would have to turn their heads when women with the wrong type of clothing walk into the room.

“Because it’s not beauty, it’s sensuality,” he says. “When you see it, you know it. There is a difference between beauty and sensuality and God is not against beauty. He is against sensuality.”

AHT: I guess they want them to start wearing burqas. And they say they aren't America's Taliban.

'I've got a surprise for you'

Hawa Akhter has said she will continue her studies, despite the horrific attack
A jealous husband is facing life in prison after chopping off his wife's fingers because she began studying for a degree without his permission.

Rafiqul Islam, 30, blindfolded his wife Hawa Akhter, 21, and taped her mouth, telling her he was going to give her a surprise present.

Instead he made her hold out her hand and cut off all five fingers. One of his relatives then threw Ms Akhter's fingers in the dustbin to ensure doctors could not reattach them.

Mr Islam, who is a migrant worker in the United Arab Emirates, had warned his wife there would 'severe consequences' if she did not give up her studies.

'After he came back to Bangladesh, he wanted to have a discussion with me,' Ms Akhter told The Times.

'Suddenly, he blindfolded me and tied my hand. He also taped my mouth saying that he would give me some surprise gifts. But, instead he cut off my fingers.'

Marco Rubio Agrees to Take the Lead in GOP’s Draconian Attack on Women’s Rights

Many agree that Rubio’s name on the bill will garner enormous media attention, thus giving more national visibility to the abortion fight currently being waged by the GOP’s social conservatives. Pro-life groups have urged Rubio to be the public face of the issue, believing he’d be the strongest asset for the bill in the Senate.

Several sources have confirmed that he’s agreed.
If true, Rubio’s agreement to play a major role in the abortion fight is bound to spark speculation in regards to his plans for 2016. However, Rubio has been the subject of criticism from many in the GOP for his support of the immigration reform bill that recently passed in the Senate. If anything, his presence with the abortion bill could provide a helpful strategical dynamic to ease concerns about him from GOP voters.
The abortion issue has seemed to provide a boost for far-right GOP politicians, with one beneficiary of that boost being Governor Rick Perry of Texas, who is considering another term as governor or possibly a run for president in 2016.
Perry has come under fire his comments directed at Texas state Senator Wendy Davis in the wake of her famous filibuster of the Texas abortion bill, where he seemingly used her past as a single teenage mother to criticize her pro-choice ideology.
Perry’s poorly-timed comments came on the heels of a resurgence of GOP-ers delving back into their bizarre and ill-informed comments on rape and abortion. At the very least, Rubio’s backing of the bill will take some of the attention away from the fringe element of the GOP that has lost the party too many elections.

Texas Clamps Down On Abortion Rights In A Pre-Dawn Vote This Morning

At 3:23 this morning, the Texas State House of Representatives voted to drastically reduce a woman’s ability to exercise her Constitutional Right to safely terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Even at that early hour, the crowded gallery erupted with “boos” and cries of “Shame on you!”

On a largely party line vote, the overwhelmingly Republican House voted 97-33 on an Omnibus Abortion Bill made up of individual bills that had been defeated or blocked during the regular session. The House took up the measure in a special session called by Governor Rick Perry, because the threshold for passage is greatly reduced.

The dead-of-night vote comes after last week’s widely publicized debacle, in which 700 citizens held a “People’s Filibuster,” signing up to address the legislature with three-minute personal remarks on the subject. Seven hours into the citizen’s speeches, with 300 speakers still not heard from, the House Speaker cut off the citizen testimony period, calling it “repetitive”.

What appears to be repetitive in Texas is the state’s aggressive posture in waging a war on women.
The Texas Senate had already passed SB-5, their version of the abortion bill, and a House vote to approve that same bill would have landed it on the governor’s desk for his enthusiastic signature. But because the House added an amendment limiting abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy, a provision already struck down by the Supreme Court, the bill now returns to the Senate, where it could be subject to a Democratic filibuster. Since the special session ends tomorrow, (unless Gov. Perry calls another one,) it remains unclear whether there will be time for the upper chamber to consider the House bill.

Republicans claim this bill will make abortions safer, and protect fetuses from feeling pain. Democrats reject that assertion, pointing to Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst’s public remark that the bill will virtually end abortions in Texas by shutting down clinics. The women of Texas seem to be saying, loudly and clearly: “Get your hands off my reproductive rights.”
