Dear Obama Hater - You Just Wasted A Decade Of Your Life

Lots of you continue to get unhinged emails from people on Facebook, your drunk uncle, and various Tea Party relatives. Here's a gentle response to them....

Pretty soon Obama will be gone and you will have to face up to the fact that you will have lost a whole decade of your life passing around conspiracy theories and whipping yourself into a frenzy of hatred. All of you lost friends, severed relationships with family members, and some of you even lost your job or your marriage due to your unhinged behavior.

You lost that decade wailing about Obama the gay Communist Muslim narcissist dictator who was going to let the UN invade America and various hoaxes like "death panels," birth certificates, Iraq's WMDs, and the "Ground Zero Mosque" (remember how you wasted two years of your life over that?). Just think of what you could have accomplished if you hadn't wasted all that time. You could have gotten a college degree, you could have written a book, you could have run your first marathon, you could have built a boat and sailed it around the world. You could learned to speak another language - oh wait, you never would have done that.

You kept waiting for Obama to be impeached or for the GOP candidates to "take off the gloves." But they never did because your favorite stories were hoaxes, and the GOP can't impeach or win the White House based on hoaxes. No doubt you were waiting for someone, anyone, in the White House to be indicted or arrested, like all those people under Nixon and Reagan and Bush, but no dice. 

Many of you will never recover from this experience. Physically, your health is no doubt worse for having lost a decade watching television and whipping yourself into a frenzy of hatred. Your ability to reason is probably permanently damaged, and nobody really wants to listen to your opinions anyway. Yes, you can successfully annoy the waitress at the diner, because she can't run away from a customer, but that doesn't mean she agrees with you. Some of you will be going into nursing homes because people gave up on you a long time ago and nobody can stand to listen to one more day of you babbling about Saul Alinsky (who died in 1972, by the way).

Some of you have no doubt suffered financially from all the time you wasted hating Obama. But some of you have actually done very very well under his "anticapitalist," "communist," "dictatorship." You do know that the economy usually does much better under Democrats, right? And that the best four years of job creation in the last 50 years was under Jimmy Carter, right?

The next two years would be a good chance to start making amends to your families and trying to rebuild relations with people in your life. Yes we know there's another election in 2016 and you'll be falling down the next rabbit hole of insanity, but try to leave your families with a few memories of you acting like a normal human being.

And the next time there is a GOP president, just remember that there will be fatal embassy attacks under the GOP president, just like the dozens of fatal embassy attacks that occurred under previous Republican presidents. Except Democrats won't be working themselves into a frenzy of conspiracy theories when it happens, they won't be cheerleading for the terrorists, and they won't be trying to overthrow the US government every time something happens.

GOP MULLS TELLING PRESIDENT OBAMA TO STFU AND SEND HIS STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS IN WRITING

Republicans may be hatching the latest plan in their continuing effort to demean and undermine President Obama. Steve Benen, writing at MSNBC, says that there is a move afoot to block the president from delivering the annual State of the Union address to congress.

An editorial by Republican operative Gary Hoitsma, in the Washington Times, quoted by Benen, says,

Here is a modest proposal: The Speaker of the House should declare a state of Constitutional emergency in which the President’s specific unlawful actions … have cumulatively provoked the legislative branch into a bold but measured legislative response. That response will be to cancel – for 2015 – the traditional end-of-January joint session of Congress to which the President is normally invited to deliver his annual State of the Union Address.

That seems to indicate that the notion of disinviting the president to the traditional joint session of congress is about more than just a protest over his immigration actions, at least in the minds of some conservatives.

The New York Times reports that conservative writer Rich Lowry, who is currently the editor of the National Review, said,

If I were John Boehner, I’d say to the president: ‘Send us your State of the Union in writing. You’re not welcome in our chamber.’

Tea Party Speaks Out Against Net Neutrality, Has No Idea What They’re Talking About

Net Neutrality is one of the most important features of the Internet. With the Internet quickly becoming the backbone of civilization, open and free access for everyone is pertinent for continued survival of the Information Age.

Which is apparently why the Tea Party is against it. The Tea Party group FreedomWorks came out against Net Neutrality on Wednesday, verbally attacking it in a new video after — surprise, surprise — President Obama announced strong support for regulations that require Internet providers like Comcast treat all web traffic equally.

Just to be clear here, the Baggers are now defending Comcast and AT&T.

This also means that, in due course, your Fox-addled Tea Party relatives will be claiming that Net Neutrality is the product of Soviet Germany under Stalin and Hitler.

Iris Somberg, the communications coordinator for FreedomWorks, said in the video that Net Neutrality doesn’t support a “free and open Internet.” According to Somberg, Net Neutrality regulations would prohibit providers from blocking or slowing down access to any websites or online services. Because the ability of corporations to block or slow down service to websites constitutes a “free and open Internet” to these people. I could make remarks comparing this to Nineteen-Eighty-Four, but at this point, I’m almost certain they’ve read it and made the collective decision to one up Orwell.

According to Somberg, this is bad because the “web content isn’t equal“:

The same speed, the same prices, the same access, but all web content isn’t equal. Netflix is not the same as a high school blog, and YouTube certainly isn’t the same as Facebook. They serve very different purposes and they have very different needs.

By dictating that all these sites be treated the same, Net Neutrality makes small companies that don’t take up much bandwidth at all pay more so that big companies can pay less. That’s not the kind of equality the Internet needs.

Nobody took the time to explain how the Internet works to her, did they?

Here’s a better analogy: A dump truck, a bus, and a sports car are not the same thing. But they’re all served by better roads; the better the roads, the better they can all function. Making sure the roads are repaired equally, not just for the bus or the dump truck because the bus or the dump truck can afford to pay more — that’s Net Neutrality. If any Tea Baggers in the audience need me to get out the road rug and the toy cars and trucks to make the analogy more concrete, I can.

She added that “Net neutrality is not a level playing field. It’s an anti-competitive policy that protects the Internet’s biggest companies at the expense of everyone else.”

Now that is some impressive mental gymnastics. Who benefits if Net Neutrality goes away? Certainly no the high school blog, I’ll tell you that right now. Free speech is money, and if you can’t pony up the money to pay for the service, too bad — no freedom for you.

Republicans have also strongly denounced Net Neutrality, just in case you thought FreedumbWorks was somehow alone. And given the fallout from earlier this month, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the year that we buried Net Neutrality. Great job, America. Your choice continues to impress me.

Wow! Just look at all the crazy! We ran across this clip from a New Left Media documentary on YouTube, and we just had to make sure you see it!

The interviewer talks to a number of right wingers, and the ignorance just oozes from them! They really don’t like Obamacare, as we have figured out by now–and they certainly know why! Socialism! While they don’t quite know what the word means, thanks to Glen Beck and FOX News they know enough to know they hate it! In fact, after watching this we’re sure that they don’t know much else!

While we could tell you the plethora of horrors you will see while viewing this, we’d rather just let you see for yourself exactly how moronic America’s right wing proves to be. Their unwavering opposition to all things rational would be impressive, if it was not also destroying our nation.

An open letter to the people who hate Obama more than they love America

I meet you all the time. You hate Obama. You hate gay people. You hate black people, immigrants, Muslims, labor unions, women who want the right to make choices concerning their bodies, you hate em all. You hate being called racist. You hate being called a bigot. Maybe if you talked about creating jobs more than you talk about why you hate gay people we wouldn't call you bigots. Maybe if you talked about black people without automatically assuming they are on food stamps while demanding their birth certificates we wouldn't call you racist. You hate socialism and social justice. You hate regulations and taxes and spending and the Government. You hate.

You like war. You like torture. You like Jesus. I don't know how in the hell any of that is compatible, but no one ever accused you haters of being over-committed to ideological consistency. You like people who look like you or at least hate most of the things that you hate. You hate everything else.

Now, I know you profess to love our country and the founding fathers (unless you are reminded that they believed in the separation of church and state), but I need to remind you that America is NOT what Fox News says it is. America is a melting pot, it always has been. We are a multi-cultural amalgamation of all kinds of people, and yet you still demonize everyone who is not a rich, white, heterosexual christian male or his submissive and obedient wife.

You hate liberals, moderates, hell, anyone who disagrees with Conservative dogma as espoused by Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. You hate em.

Well, here are the facts, Jack. If you hate the Government then you are unqualified to manage it. If you hate gay people more than you love America than you should take your own advice and get the hell out. There are several countries that are openly hostile to gay people, but they are full of brown people and you don't like them much either from what I understand. It looks like you are screwed, but that's not what I am here to tell you.

Tea Party Official Gets Locked Inside of Empty Courthouse – on Election Night with All the Ballots

Straight from the “this isn’t suspicious at all” file, a Tea Party official with very close times toChris McDaniel somehow wound up in a locked and empty Mississippi courthouse after the election results had come in.

Janis Lane is the president of the Central Mississippi Tea Party; at 2:00 am she had to call Hinds County Republican executive chairman Pete Perry because she’d somehow wound up locked in the same building where the circuit clerk, election commission offices, and primary election ballots are at. Perry told TPM that the incident mystified him. Before the intrusion, the ballots had been secured, according to local authorities. Perry said that:

I don’t know. I know I wouldn’t walk into a courthouse at 2 o’clock in the morning by myself or with somebody else and just walk around inside the building. I’m not going to go into a public building just because somehow or another I happened to find a door that was unlocked.

Especially if it’s going down to where a bunch of election materials were and I’d been deeply involved in a campaign. I am 64. I was involved in politics when I was real young, and I remember people breaking into a hotel in the middle of the night.

Thad Cochran’s sister-in-law, Connie Cochran, was the last person to leave the courthouse. An election commissioner, Connie Cochran left the building at 11:30, more than two hours before Perry received the call from Lane. Lane said that she and a friend wanted to see the election process first hand, and were escorted to an unlocked door by a police officer. It’s not clear how much time they spent in the building or when they entered, but somehow, the door locked behind them.

Perry, a supporter of Thad Cochran, is suspicious of her story.

“It just didn’t make sense. It didn’t compute,” Perry said. “Now what she was doing, I have no idea. I couldn’t say. But I am skeptical.” Perry said that Lane had called him earlier in the night to ask about the election results, and he said that she appeared to either be at a campaign for McDaniel or the headquarters.

Connie Cochran told authorities that, to her knowledge, no materials were disturbed or removed from the building. The Central Mississippi Tea Party has endorsed McDaniel in his fight to unseat Cochran, which is going to lead to a June 24 run-off election for both candidates. The group has been in hot water before after one of its members, Mark Mayfield, was arrested following evidence that connected him to the May break-in of the nursing home where Thad Cochran’s wife is currently living.

Perry contacted the sheriff, and by 3:30 in the morning, they’d let Lane free. The police to not have an ongoing investigation into the matter.

INDIANA GOP STATE SENATOR MIKE DELPH: 'GAYS DON'T FIGHT FAIR'

Indiana State Senator and Tea Party member Mike Delph was disappointed by the failed measure to get a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and civil unions on his state’s 2014 ballot.

The contentious amendment, known as HJR-3, died in February in a Senate vote (keeping it off the ballot until 2016 at earliest). But still hurting from the failure, Senator Delph has written a personal column entitled, “Opponents of Christian values don’t fight fair.”

His main takeaway is:

If I have learned anything over the last months in the HJR-3 debate, opponents of traditional Judeo-Christian values don’t fight fair or with honor. They fight to win, and to date have been very successful.

After that backhanded compliment, he says that because all rights regarding marriage come from God, the government cannot create or remove any new rights regarding marriage. Thus, the government should just stay out of marriages entirely and let churches regulate it like God wants:

Rights come from God and are inalienable, meaning they cannot be taken away by man, or more important, by government… Not even courts have the power to create or remove rights. So how can a right exist that does not come from our Creator and what modern rights do we honestly believe are divinely inspired as opposed to invented and imposed by a left-wing orthodoxy?

Probably the biggest mess of all was when the government started involving itself in marriage. Tax benefits, estate planning benefits, societal legitimacy are all things traditional marriage brings participants.

Now there is evidence that not only will businesses be sued for operating according to their own faith traditions, but churches themselves can be sued if they refuse to ordain a union their God rejects.

Keep in mind that the businesses being sued for rejecting LGBT customers ran afoul of public accomodation laws and not marriage laws like Delph says, so gay marriage has nothing to do with those cases. Furthermore, there has never been one instance ever of an LGBT person trying to force a church to marry them. Never. Ever.

Fun sidenotes though: Delph’s brother Stephen is gay and Delph got punished by his own own caucus for tweeting about HJR-3's lack of votes before the news went public.

He is also “the only US politician who accepted a donation from BP's political action committee in the period after its Deepwater Horizon spill and spoke out in favor of the company in defense of its critics.”

VA Tea Partier Tells Elderly Woman Asking Him To Back Medicaid Expansion: ‘YOU Are The Problem’

Tea Party Virginia Delegate Tag Greason cares about his constituents. In fact, when they say something with which he disagrees, like ‘As an elderly woman, I think you should support Medicaid expansion,’ he cares so much he feels the need to set them straight–as Loudoun County resident Susan Merk discovered when she e-mailed him on March 28 when he told her she is ‘the problem’ and called her ‘intellectually lazy’ for supporting something that would greatly benefit her.

Merk voiced her support for the Medicaid Expansion. “It’s imperative that federal Medicaid aid is passing the [Virginia] budget,” Merk wrote.

Greason respectfully disagreed…well, maybe not respectfully, but he did disagree. Her elected official mansplained to her that, “ObamaCare has already proven to be inefficient, costly, and an utter disaster,” and that “Medicaid is one of the largest and fastest-growing parts” of the budget even without expansion.

Merk shot back, telling him that, “This reply is pitiful – it’s nothing but partisan rhetoric, false accusations and invalid excuses.” She added, “I will be sure to vote you out the next time you’re up for election.”

This enraged the Tea Partier so much that he decided to truly exercise outreach to the elderly. He responded, Pitiful because I am willing to enter a dialogue with you? All you liberals are the same. As soon as someone doesn’t agree with you, you shut down communication, call the other side names, take your ball and go home. I understand and am saddened by this approach at the federal level … but your reaction below is THE problem. I did not have to write you back … but I did. I think discussing differences is the only way to solve problems … you would rather leap right to the insults. How intellectually lazy are you? You are the problem. Good luck to you. You can not insult your way to ‘victory.’ If you are not willing to have a civil discussion, please do not write me again. It is a waste of my time. Thanks, Tag.”

Merk, understandably, was offended by her elected official’s actions. “I shouldn’t write to him again because I am wasting his time?” Merk told the Loudoun Times. “How many emails do you think he gets per day from people who disagree with him just like I did? It’s his job to listen to the people he represents.” She called his conduct “unprofessional” and “almost unreal.”

He attempted to walk back his remarks on Monday, saying he “must have been having  a very bad day,” though one must wonder how “bad” his day must have been to assail an elderly woman as he did.

The number of deaths attributable to the lack of the Medicaid expansion is between 266 and 987. If Medicaid expansion were to pass, it would lead to an additional 291,325 insured people.

Greason barely held on to his seat for his third term, winning election by only 500 votes in 2013. We look forward to his forced retirement the next time voters hit the polls.

Glenn Beck Makes Asinine Claim about Time Magazine Choosing Pope Francis as Person of the Year

And the attacks on Pope Francis just keep on coming. 

Then again, following the news that Time magazine has chosen the Pope as their “Person of the Year,” you knew that was going to tick off quite a few Republicans.

This time it was Glenn Beck who went off on a rant about the audacity Time magazine showed with its selection of Pope Francis over someone like – Ted Cruz.

Yes, this buffoon really believes Ted Cruz deserved to be “Person of the Year.”  I mean, why not, right?  After all, his biggest accomplishment this year was staging a fake 21-hour filibuster and heading a government shutdown that accomplished absolutely nothing.  How “remarkable” of him.

Beck claimed the reason why Time didn’t choose Cruz is because they “didn’t want to give him any more power.”  I’ll be honest, I actually laughed when I read that part.  He also reminded his audience to, “Remember, progressives are fascist.  They are for fascism.”

But of course we are.  Then again, this is Glenn Beck we’re talking about.  He’s obsessed with fascism and Nazi Germany.  A good asinine rant from Mr. Beck wouldn’t be complete without some kind of reference to fascism.

What his rant basically says to me is that he’s fully embraced the belief that Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church, is a full-fledged fascist.  Amazing, isn’t it?  All he has to do is point out that trickle-down economics does nothing but give more to the rich at the expense of everyone else and suddenly he’s a fascist.

It still makes me laugh that Pope Francis actually behaves more like an actual Christian — based on the teachings of Jesus Christ — than any other Pope in recent history, and it’s driving conservatives crazy.

Here’s a fun fact: Before trickle-down economics, and in decades such as the 50′s and 60′s when we had much higher taxes and stronger unions, we were still a nation based on capitalism.  Opposing massive tax breaks for the rich doesn’t equate to fascism.  Unless of course these people are insinuating that presidents like Eisenhower and Kennedy were fascists.

Then again, most of these fools who yell words like fascism, communism or socialism don’t even know what they mean.  They’ll happily drive on public roads – to a meeting to complain about how horrific all forms of socialism are.  Not understanding that those roads built by the government, paid for by tax dollars, are socialism in action.  

Glenn Beck is just another in a growing list of well-known conservatives who continue their attack of Pope Francis.  If they keep it up I can promise you this — it’s not going to turn out well for the Republican party.
