All That X-Rated Smut Is Killing Off Marriage, According To The FRC

Group-02-360x240
The Family Research Council just won’t quit. Having clearly lost the battle to convince Americans that being gay is just about the worst thing you can “choose” to do, they’ve widened their scope in an attempt to shake their proverbial finger at the rest of a society they see as crumbling relentlessly around them.

Marriage — that sacred bond between a man and a woman, has been on the decline lately. Why? Well, according to them, it’s all that porn everyone is watching! They call it “common-sensical” that the more x-rated smut is freely available on the interwebs, the more damaged the institution of marriage becomes.

What they’re actually doing is taking the results from a study by a German think tank and using them to prop up their distorted view of reality. The Washington Post looked at the same study and had this to say:

“There are many reasons for the trend. One of the most provocative is the rise of wealth inequality. Andrew J. Cherlin made this point in a recent op-ed in the New York Times: Historically, low and stable inequality has coincided with periods of higher marriage rates among all socioeconomic groups. Marriage can be a expensive institution, especially without two sustainable sources of income. It’s likely of little coincidence that the United States is particularly unequal today, and its poor are particularly less likely to marry than the rich.”
They went on to point out several flaws in the study, one of which being that it examines data collected from 2000-2004, so, data that are a decade old.

Also, the researchers themselves note that their “findings fall short of being conclusive.”

But far be it for the FRC to use real-world logic when deciding which damaging thing to assert next.

Mother Calls Cops on Porn-Watching 15-Year-Old

It's every teen's worst nightmare: mom discovers your porn stash. Now imagine how much horrible it would be if the police got involved.

The Smoking Gun reports that a pubescent nightmare scenario played out in South Carolina on August 5, when police were summoned by the mother of a 15-year-old boy because the teen had been watching porn on the living room television.

According to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun, Chavondar Gallman, 40, a real estate agent in Spartenburg, South Carolina returned home on August 5, with a client and her two-year-old daughter in tow. The three went into the living, where the two-year-old turned on the television to find that porn playing. They immediately turned the television off and took the toddler out of the room.

Gallman called 911 and gave a voluntary statement to police officers, saying she summoned police because "her son has been having behavior issues and that he will not listen, talk back, and steal." The report details that Gallman requested police documentation due to her young daughter being exposed to porn and to track her teenage son's behavior.

Watching porn is not illegal in South Carolina.

The police report failed to indicate what the son was doing in his room at the time of the call.

World's earliest erotic graffiti found in unlikely setting on Aegean island

Erotic graffiti on Aegean island of Astypalaia

Wild, windswept, rocky and remote, Astypalaia is not an obvious place for the unearthing of some of the world's earliest erotic graffiti.

Certainly, Dr Andreas Vlachopoulos, a specialist in prehistoric archaeology, didn't think so when he began fieldwork on the Aegean island four years ago. Until he chanced upon a couple of racy inscriptions and large phalluses carved into Astypalaia's rocky peninsula at Vathy. The inscriptions, both dating to the fifth and sixth centuries BC, were "so monumental in scale" – and so tantalisingly clear – he was left in no doubt of the motivation behind the artworks.

"They were what I would call triumphant inscriptions," said the Princeton-trained professor who found them while introducing students to the ancient island world of the Aegean. "They claimed their own space in large letters that not only expressed sexual desire but talked about the act of sex itself," he told the Guardian. "And that is very, very rare."

Chiselled into the outcrops of dolomite limestone that dot the cape, the inscriptions have provided invaluable insight into the private lives of those who inhabited archaic and classical Greece. One, believed to have been carved in the mid-sixth century BC, proclaimed: "Nikasitimos was here mounting Timiona (Νικασίτιμος οἶφε Τιμίονα).

CALIFORNIA: Assembly Approves Bill Mandating Condom Use In Porn Shoots

Porn performers in California must wear condoms during film shoots and their employers must provide regular testing under a bill that passed the state Assembly on Tuesday. The bill, AB1576 by Assemblyman Isadore Hall, D-Compton, advanced to the Senate on a 41-12 vote, the minimum number of votes needed. The bill follows a similar mandate in Los Angeles County, approved by voters in 2012. Hall said his bill is a workplace-safety measure to curb the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, citing recent industry-imposed moratoriums on adult film shoots after actors were diagnosed. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, a sponsor of the bill, says it would pursue film producers who leave California, with a much-debated argument that porn shoots are technically illegal in most states. Last fall, the group filed a complaint about an adult film made in Florida, where California porn makers outsourced unprotected sex scenes.

Porn performers largely oppose the bill, saying its provisions violate their medical privacy.

Watching Adult Content Helps Your Workout

This is the study for which you’ve been waiting. According to researchers, watching adult videos before working out can improve athletic performance. And we’re not just talking about stronger forearms.

For the study, researchers showed various types of video clips to male athletes and then studied their testosterone levels and performance. Clips that were erotic, humorous, training-themed or aggressive resulted in increased testosterone in the athlete’s saliva.

In videos with a sad theme, on the other hand, testosterone levels decreased significantly.
The increases or decreases in testosterone levels correlated with performance improvements as measured by squats.

The researchers concluded that the pre-workout environment offers unique opportunities for hormonal change and athlete performance.

In other words, watching some erotic videos before you hit the gym can give your workout a boost. As if you needed any encouragement.

Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Expels Gay Student For Doing Adult Films

22-year-old dancer Jeppe Hansen was accepted to the prestigious Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and received a scholarship for their professional division in September 2012. Then officials discovered that in his short time attending the school Jeppe chose to act in porn. Officials decided was no longer welcome in the school, reports CBC.

Jeppe decided to do porn after being frustrated by what he viewed as the constraints of ballet. Porn was a side project that would allow him to be the artist he wants to be, while ballet "is restrictive. Everyone tells you what you have to do, how to look, what to weigh, how to perform [and] be the artist you are."
Emmy-award-winning producer Jake Jaxson, the owner of the site that Jeppe performed for, shares a similar sentiment in regards to the artistic value of porn and is trying to blur the lines between mainstream and adult entertainment. He wants to make films that have storylines as well as sex, and points out that the extreme violence present in many films is not regarded as being outside of the mainstream. This echoes James Franco in Interior. Leather Bar. when he stated "Sex should be a storytelling tool, but we’re so f**king scared of it," and pointed out how the common and natural acts of sex - gay sex in particular - are subjected to much higher levels of censorship than extreme violence.

Though a victim of the sex-phobic culture that insists on the dichotomoy that "porn is bad" but consumes it en masse, slut-shaming the actors who dare perform in it all the while, Jeppe insists that his dancing career is not over. For now, he is taking a break until he can find a place where he can fit in.
