In another scribble on Patheos, Bristol Palin bragged about impeachment talk supposedly being mainstream because right-wing site Breitbart said so. She also said that President Obama should be impeached because her quitter mom said so.
The poster child for why abstinence-only education doesn’t work added her own voice to the small number of conservatives who are calling for the impeachment of President Obama. Of course, the little Palin couldn’t resist reminding everyone who began the crazy screeching of impeachment.
“So many people are saying Obama should be impeached that Breitbart says impeachment has gone mainstream,” Bristol Palin wrote. “Can I just say, Mom was saying this months ago!”
As proof, she included a quote from her mother Sarah:
“If that’s not impeachable, nothing is. And if he’s not impeachable, no one is…. We had a revolution back in 1776 because we don’t do kings!”
Of course, President Obama is not a king. Never was and never will be. He was legally elected by the American people twice by large margins and is constitutionally bound to leave office after his second term ends in January 2017 when a new president is inaugurated.
Despite the fact that Obama only has two years left in the White House, Bristol and her mom are both calling for Congress to impeach him. Why does Bristol think impeachment is necessary?
President Obama ignores court orders, makes up his own laws, and pretends laws he doesn’t like don’t exist. That’s pretty much the opposite of the President’s job description. And now he’s gone and declared his own immigration policy that Americans clearly said they don’t want.
As usual, Bristol fails to indicate exactly what court orders Obama “ignores” and what laws he “makes up.” She mentions Obama’s executive actions on immigration policy but again has no idea what she’s talking about along with demonstrating that hypocrisy is somehow genetic.
According to a recent poll conducted by Hart Research Associates for Americans United for Change, a whopping 67 percent of Americans support President Obama’s executive order. The Hill reports that “they had a favorable opinion of the plan when it was described to them.”
Bristol says Americans “clearly” reject his action but that doesn’t appear to be so clear at all. Furthermore, the US Supreme Court has already ruled that the executive branch has the power to issue such orders.
But once again, Bristol turns to her mom for more ranting about what President Obama has done to somehow deserve impeachment. Let’s go through them, shall we?
1. Government spying on us. (Began under Bush, so how would it be fair to impeach Obama for this?)
2. Terrorist leaders are being released. (They’re actually being transferred to other nations for confinement. Plus, Obama has killed more terrorists than Bush could have ever dreamed of, including Osama bin Laden.)
3. Took healthcare away from us. (Apparently, helping 12 million Americans get affordable health insurance is somehow stripping healthcare away from everyone else.)
Bristol then goes on to say that impeachment is catching fire in Congress because all of six Republicans in both chambers combined have voiced their support. Last time I checked, there were 100 Senators and 435 Representatives. It would take a majority to vote for impeachment in the House, and two-thirds of the Senate to convict. But according to Bristol, it’s a piece of cake.
When the president gets out of control, impeachment is how the people can pull him back. Mom says making the case is the easy part — what’s hard is having the guts, courage and political will to do it.
Yeah, because impeaching the president worked so well for Republicans the last time they did it, right?
As you’ll recall, the GOP tried to impeach Clinton, only to get shellacked in the next election by an unforgiving American public. Bristol speaks of what Americans don’t want. Well, they definitely reject impeaching President Obama. The Palin family may want to impeach Obama, but 65 percent of Americans oppose doing it. Bristol says President Obama is doing something that the American people don’t want, but her entire blurb is about doing something that Americans have rejected thoroughly. How’s that for hypocrisy?
The bottom line is Bristol Palin is out of her depth. Her mom is not the leader of the Republican Party or of Congress no matter how much she wants her to be. In addition, Bristol has zero political experience and her only guide on political matters is a woman who quit after serving two years into a four year term as Governor of Alaska and who embarrasses herself on the national stage every time she speaks. Even Bristol Palin can’t help sticking her foot in her mouth. Last month, she claimed to be a struggling single mother who could barely put bread on the table despite the fact that she has made hundreds of thousands of dollars as a spokesperson and from selling interviews to magazines. Perhaps Bristol should focus on taking care of her son in her $400,000 lakeside home instead of sounding off on topics she has no clue about.
